The after school program I worked for at a Chinese immersion school called Alice Fong Yu had a Halloween party. I dressed up like Amelia Earhart. My colleagues were smart, young and interesting. The children there were pleasant. This job was walking distance from my apartment in the Inner Sunset. I liked it. Before work on this day I donated blood and picked up tickets for a Pearl Jam concert I'd purchased on eBay in the lobby of corporate building in the financial district.

Nobu, Stephanie, the English People, and Mulrooney were in attendance. I was very ambitious and self important about it. I recorded the show on a four track tape machine. I brought furniture from my house and a children's book. I played the harmonica too loud and too long. People are so generous and forgiving. If only I were the same, I wouldn't feel so embarrassed about my behavior, nor so guilty about receiving unconditional love. That's true from my present perspective. Also, at the time, the night seemed like a success, and fun.

I was new to San Francisco and working for Terry Mulrooney’s Admiral Green Landscaping. Here is a photograph of the boss and his daughter on a day we were assembling planter boxes on the roof of his workshop.

We drove up from Santa Cruz in the middle of the night. Stephanie drove really fast and aggressive. It was a bit stressful, the travel part was. We had fun in Forestville and on the coast though. She showed us some good spots and her parents made really good food. It was the first time I ever went to that part of the world.
